Conversely, a flawed notion arrived at through genuine, painstaking scrutiny and a commitment to evidence has a certain nobility. The latter is capable of self-correction; the former is a brittle dogma, regardless of its content. The how defines the thinker; the what merely defines the thought.
Sophia: Then, perhaps, the most valuable lesson we can pass on is not a set of answers, but a mastery of the question. To teach a person how to construct a sound argument, how to test an assumption, how to parse rhetoric from truth—this gives them an intellectual compass for life, one that is truly independent of any received wisdom. It ensures they are the architect of their own intellectual edifice, brick by painstaking brick.
