Disclaimer: This chapter deals with topics associated with depression and suicide. In now way do I want to leave the reader with a romanticizing of or trivializing of these serious topics. I believe the topics should be written about, talked about and not suppressed or marginalized in our mind as a weakness or insignificant.
The study of depression is pathological and includes many causes and contributors. Pathogens, immunodeficiencies, allergies or autoimmunity all play a factor. The cause-effect principles of epidemiology discourage the use of “disease” as communicative literature.
