The Hierarchies of Awareness
The consequences of an act affect the probability of its occurring again.
- B. F. Skinner (1904-1990)
Probabilities mapped onto the nodes of intentionality define and deny our species access to certain potentials. Action avoidance under the guise of responsibility is an appropriate response to careful planning (ie. the prudent peripatetic), myelination and the biological imperative that is Homo erectus and on down. Contemporary schema classify our phylogenetic success story (thus spoke us) as the dominating species of our Universe (for now), yet the upright man is all too often the uptight man and in need of detox from distractions.
