If I'm not my answers, what am I?
"The shelf is a standing wave of memory braided through biological form." Demian Lapointe's words resonate with a depth that beckons exploration, particularly when viewed through the lens of theoretical physics. Could we be more than static beings, instead, vibrant patterns of energy, oscillating with the music of existence?
Imagine the human form as a complex instrument, finely tuned by evolution. Each memory, a note etched upon our being, creates a unique resonance. Like a standing wave, where energy flows yet appears stationary, we are a confluence of past experiences, shaping our present form.
Theoretical physics posits that the universe itself is a symphony of vibrating strings, each resonating at a different frequency. Perhaps our individual "song" is a harmonic within this grander composition. Our memories, then, are not merely recollections, but energetic imprints, contributing to the symphony of the self.
This perspective casts a breathtaking light on human connection. When we resonate with another, are we aligning our individual frequencies, creating a harmonious chord? Could love, empathy, and understanding be experienced as energetic resonance on a profound level? Some may not want "love" to be reduced to a wave pattern, but the thought experiments out there now can make a grown philosopher shy.
This matrix we imagine ourselves in can be thought of a a chessboard with a single pawn (or knight if you prefer) aligned on a rank and file order. The board is space. Time is represented by the chessboard 'flowing,' underneath the standing-wave of the pawn. As the new line of 8-bit binary tiles comes into view for the pawn, the pattern flows over and around the pawn, who sees the pattern and the binary pulses of the tiles, clues to a future 'space' to potentially occupy or 'encounter.' Conciousness is the spirit of the self's knowledge and awareness, and ability to imagine something different than your senses tell you.
Lapointe's words invite us to consider ourselves as dynamic beings, shaped by the past, yet vibrating with the potential of the present. We are not merely the sum of our memories, but living embodiments of resonance, our unique song echoing within the grand symphony of the cosmos.
