Come On PFC, not UFC
If history and science have taught us anything, it is that passion and desire are not the same as truth.

Come On PFC, not UFC
Using your frontal cortex means doing the harder thing for the possibility of a desired outcome. Purging excessive possessions, limiting personal spending, and focusing on the love of literature, creating and writing is a passion that I am pursuing. What's your story?
What do we mean by activating our PFC? The PFC has been implicated in planning complex cognitive behavior, personality expression, decision making, and moderating social behavior. The principal activity of this brain region is considered to be orchestration of thoughts and actions in accordance with internal goals, mainly executive function.
Executive function relates to abilities to differentiate among conflicting thoughts, determine good and evil, better and best, same and different, future consequences of current activities, working toward a defined goal, prediction of outcomes, expectation based on actions, and social “control” (the ability to suppress urges that, if not contained, could lead to socially unacceptable consequences). The frontal cortex supports concrete rule learning.
If it is not evident by now, having better control over this region of the brain quite literally translates to mind over matter. That is not to say emotions are not essential to harness a sense of self. Emotions can be powerful tools, but it is necessary to evaluate which emotions serve you, and which are a fleeting source of distraction. For instance, you may feel like you like someone, but when you actually go on a date with them, you realize you only liked the image you had created in your mind.
In this case, passion and desire were not what you thought they were. If you practice good discipline, which includes a presence of mind, chances are you will better excel in all fields, including social interaction, which means reading people for who they are and creating an image of them in your mind that is closer to reality.
